SPRING 2017 - UPDATED BIG NEWS!  Beginning March 25th, 2017, we will be open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm, until the end of June.  Further hours or any changes will be posted here.  PLEASE NOTE:  OUR FACEBOOK PAGE IS UPDATED DAILY - SO FOR UP-TO-DATE INFO ON NEW PLANTS ETC, JOIN OUR PAGE THERE!  JUST SEARCH UNDER ‘ERIKSON’S DAYLILY GARDENS‘ AND YOU WILL FIND US!

JANUARY 2017 - After that long and cold winter, we are finally outside getting ready for the new season!  We have some exciting new plants to offer this spring, including 40 new varieties of hosta to add to our already massive collection; new daylilies that visitors have requested; and new varieties of Asiatic, Oriental and Oriental Trumpet lilies!  Our opening day for the season will be Saturday March 25th at 10 am.

Just a taste of what is new this year, here is a special new hosta called ‘Miracle Lemony’ with, for the first time, yellow flowers in last summer!  Also pictured below is the new dwarf Asiatic lily ‘Tiny Epic’, the double yellow blooms of Asiatic ‘Fata Morgan’ and the dwarf daylily ‘Siloam Plum Tree’.

Our Annual Open House last year was again a great success and this year is booked for Saturday and Sunday, July 8th and 9th so mark your calendars as you won’t want to miss it!  We continue to send a big ‘thank you’ to all our volunteers who worked so tirelessly to help us out and to our generous contributors who provided the prizes for the draw (the list of those people and businesses are listed on our Specials page - please give them your support as well as they truly are all so community minded!)  We always keep their names up until the following open house - especially since so many of our contributors help us out every year and we are indebted to them.

We will continue to update our Facebook page on a more daily basis once we open and it is an ongoing source of information and pictures so please join!

Our daylily and hosta collections are continually growing - and our current count is over 3,000 varieties of daylilies and 600 varieties of hosta - and who knows what it will be by the end of 2017! We also have two of our own new daylily introductions that we will post later - very excited about both of them!

Also this year, we will again have a wide selection of high-end containers available at the beginning of the 2017 season.  These pots are from Vietnam, but are double glazed.  We have two containers that we purchased from the same company fifteen years ago, and they are still sitting on our back deck having shown no winter damage at all!  We will have plenty of colors and styles available!

In addition, we have expanded our line of quality cast iron garden ornaments and will have some truly amazing wood turned pieces later in the year!  Stay tuned for those!

PLEASE NOTE - When visiting our gardens at bloom time, it is very important to remember that is a private hybridizing garden - this means that our main focus is on cross pollinating and creating new varieties.  To this end, it is imperative that no blooms be touched, deadheaded or sniffed in the garden!  I know it’s hard for gardeners not to do that - but it really does destroy a years worth of work if someone moves a stem to take a picture and a crossed bloom falls off.   We also apologize, but we are not equipped to allow wheelchairs, strollers or walkers into the garden.  This is for both the preservation of our hybridizing program and for your own safety as the pathways are very narrow, uneven and have sharp edges that wheels can easily go over and fall.

Please note that Pam’s email address has changed - the new one is pamerikson@uniserve.com - for any information at all, please feel free to email or call 604-856-5758
